HOW TO EMBROIDER VISORS

How to Embroider Visors is a question that I get over and over. Visors really are not difficult to work with, but on some machines they do want to slip around a lot. This is because the embroidery area is close to the brim, and they are often not fastened well in the back. As you get closer to the brim of the visor, more pressure is applied to the brim from the back of the embroidery machine head. This can cause the visor to shift position if it is not hooped tight enough or placed on the cap frame properly. After you get through these videos and follow my instructions, I do not think you will have nearly as many issues with them as you may have had in the past. Start with the “Basic Visor Information”.

In this section, you will see the different types of visors and I explain how you have to handle them differently. This will give you a better understanding why you may have issues with visors.

Video: Basic Visor Information

This embroidery training video will give you some basic information about embroidery on visors. You have full sized visors and short visors. They must be treated differently. Your design must be smaller than a design that has been digitized for a cap.

In this section, you will see exactly how to handle the two different types of visors. I show you how to hoop and embroider the sides of the short visors using two different methods; one using the regular hoop and the other using the Hoop Tech Clamping system.

Video: Full Sized Visor-Hooping For Front & Side Embroidery

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop a full size visor to embroider a design on the center front and on each side in one operation. I hoop this full size visor the same as I would a cap. When visors have shorter front panels, it is better to leave the head band up rather than folded out.

In the Design Templates section of Design Basics and the Cap section of the website, you will find written instructions on How To Set Up The Embroidery Designs To Embroider On The Front And Sides in One Operation. Print these instructions and place them in your embroidery binder. You must keep in mind that the visor designs will need to be smaller than the cap designs and you may need to move the side placement closer to the center. You have a smaller embroidery field on visors.

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to place the hooped visor into the embroidery machine and embroider the front and sides of a full sized visor in one operation.

Remember that you have a smaller embroidery field on visors. The visor designs will need to be smaller than the cap designs, and you may need to move the side placement closer to the center.

Video: Short Visor-Hooping Visor For Front Only Embroidery Design

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop a short front visor for an embroidery design on the front only. Because the front panel is so short, the head band will not be folded out. It is impossible to hoop it for a design on the front and sides for embroidery in one application. The sides are too short to be able to hoop for one application. To embroider a design on the side, it must be hooped separately. You must also be careful if you clip the back as I do in this video. Many cap drivers (not all) have guide rollers on the side of them. If the design is too wide, the clips can hit the guide rollers.

Video: Short Visor-Sewing Out Embroidery On The Front Only

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to place the hooped visor into the embroidery machine to sew out the design on the front of a short visor. This design was only a little taller than one half inch high. The front of the visor itself was only one and one half inches high.

Video: Short Visor-How To Hoop For A Side Embroidery Design

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to embroider the sides of a short front visor using a standard tubular hoop and sticky backing. You can also use hoopless frames and sticky backing to do this same process. These short visors cannot be hooped and embroidered on the front and sides in one operation like the higher front visors. The side panels are so short, designs do not center well when the visor is in the cap frame. If you do not have the sticky backing, you can also use embroidery spray adhesive on tearaway backing or the Vinyl Window that I show you how to create to stabilize the visor for the embroidery on the side. You can also use either of these same techniques to embroider Karate belts, military name tape, patch blanks, and nylon strapping.

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to place the hooped visor into the embroidery machine and sew out the design on the side of the short visor.

In this embroidery training video, I am going to show you how easy it is to sew out the embroidery design on the side of this same style of short visor using a Hoop Tech clamp. You can also use this technique to embroider nylon strapping, name tape, or belts and eliminate the adhesive.
