HOW TO EMBROIDER ON TOWELS

Embroidery on towels is beautiful. It can be a custom design, simple personalization, or a Monogram. Towels are manufactured in many different weights and qualities. You can embroider a single towel, such as a beach towel, towel sets with monograms or custom designs, as well as sport towels with corporate logos.

When you are working with towels, you must make sure that your settings are heavy enough to hold down the loops in the terry. The heavier the terry is, the heavier your settings must be. I explain the type of settings I used as I embroidered these towels.

A Monogrammed Towel Set is a very luxurious gift item and is an extremely profitable addition to almost any niche market. Monogrammed towels can be offered to the corporate market, the home market, the gift market, and even the club and organization market. Everyone needs gift items and towel sets will work for almost any occasion.

Video: Monogram Or Embroidery Design Placement On Towel Sets

In the embroidery training video, I show you the placement for the embroidered monograms on towel sets. These towel sets include the bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths. The Linens Monogram Placement Guide will give you the size and placement measurements for monograms on a bath sheet, bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth. There is a Link to this guide included at the end of this Towel section and in Design Placement in the Embroidery Basics section of this website. I have also included a written article with measurements and procedures.

I have found that most linen items look richer when you embroider them with cotton thread. That is the traditional type of thread used for monograms. This is not always possible because of the availability of colors. The next best choice is the polyester thread because of its durability and ease with laundering.

Always use 2 layers of medium weight crisp tear away backing. The crispness helps it to tear away clean and gives you a better finish.

Video: Hooping A Bath Towel For A Monogram Or Embroidery

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop a bath towel for a 3 letter monogram. I hoop the towel flat without the help of a hooping device. I also talk about which backing and topping to use. You must make sure you put the hoop on your towel upside down so that you can place it into the machine with the extra fabric hanging in front, instead of in the back.

If your hoops are multi-directional, as some of the new styles are, you do not have to worry about how you put the hoop on the towel. However, you still want to place the towel into the machine with the extra fabric hanging in front.

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop the towel using a HoopMaster hooping device. You will still have a more accurate placement if you mark the towel previous to hooping it, even when using a hooping device.

Video: How To Finish A Monogram Or Embroidery Design On Towels

In this embroidery training video, I show you how to finish the embroidered monogram on a towel for a high quality professional presentation. You must remove all of the backing or stabilizer that is left on the back and steam off the topping and hoop mark. Steaming will raise all of the nap and give a high quality professional look to the finished product.

How to Embroider Golf Towels

Golf towels make great gifts. They are easy to embroider and very cost effective. There are several placement locations you can choose that are totally acceptable for embroidery on Golf Towels, Hand towels, and Fingertip towels. There are a variety of Golf towels and they differ greatly in weight, quality, and size. However, the embroidery process for each one is the same. By that I mean, you will need 2 layers of crisp tearaway backing; for the best results, make sure you use topping on the top. Steam away the excess topping when you are finished.

Embroidery And Monogram Placement Guide For Linen

This Linen Monogram Placement Guide is only a guide line and should be used accordingly. The sizing of the monograms used on linens is based on the size of the item that you are going to be working with. Sometimes an item can be large but is so delicate that you would not want to embroider a heavy monogram.

Download and print out the Linen Monogram Placement Guide. Lay pages 1 and 2 down with wrong sides together and laminate them. This will give you a guide that you can use for a long time. You can even write notes on it with an erasable marker.
