In this section, I show you how to work with blankets. In these videos, I am embroidering a fleece blanket and a suede fabric blanket using a specialty process I prefer for gift items. I will show you how you can embroider them and have them remain soft, supple, and look great on both sides when they are finished.

Video: Fleece Blanket-Embroidery Design Placement And Hooping
In this embroidery training video, I show you a simple method to determine embroidery design placement on the corner of a fleece blanket and how to hoop it without using a hooping device. For this application I use medium weight water soluble topping or Solvy as my backing. When it is removed, there is no sign of backing and the design and blanket remain soft. For quantity production this process is not as cost effective. Soluble film is more expensive to work with than backing. My standard production method is to use 2 layers of medium weight tearaway backing with 1 layer of light weight soluble film on the top.
Video: How To Insert Fleece Blanket Into Machine & Sew Out Design
In this embroidery training video, I show you how to place the fleece blanket into the machine and embroider the design in the corner. This must be inserted into the machine upside down because you have a large amount of fabric. You want the majority of the fabric in the front of the machine resting on the table. This keeps most of the blanket out from under the head of the machine where there is much less room. That will sharply decrease the possibility of dirt and oil stains or damage.
Video: Design Placement & Hooping A Heavy Suede Fabric Blanket
In this embroidery training video, I show you the placement and hooping for a design in the corner of a heavy Suede Fabric Sherpa lined blanket. I will hoop this flat without using a hooping device. I am using 2 layers of medium weight water soluble topping (solvy) for my backing and 1 layer of the topping on the top. I am also going to take the specialty process one step further on this blanket. I will use the same color of embroidery thread in the bobbin. This will make sure that the design looks the same on the back as well as the front.
