In this section, I show you how to embroider on Tote bags and a Wine bottle bag. I show you how to hoop and work with the tote bags in three different ways; two of them with a standard tubular hoop or frame and one with a Hoop Tech embroidery clamp. There are many types of bags that can be embroidered and most are treated just like any other woven fabric. By that I mean, you will be using a crisp tearaway backing and in most cases I recommend Polyester thread.
You will not use a topping on your bags unless they are a heavy rough texture. If this is the case, topping will help to make the embroidery have a smoother edge and the design will cover better as in the video that I did using the Hoop Tech Clamp. There are several specialty hooping devices on the market that will all work for bags. Unfortunately, they can get rather expensive. I have found the Hoop Tech clamps to be extremely versatile when embroidering on the pockets. The magnetic hoops made by Magna Hoop work very well on many sizes but are more limited with pockets. You can also use Fast Frames and sticky adhesive backing to embroider them with. These are the least expensive. They are versatile but not as stable as some of the others.
If someone asks you to embroider on a Golf bag, make sure that you can get it over the neck of the embroidery machine. Also, some embroidery machines do not have enough width between the sides of the drop down tables to fit the golf bags between.

Video: How To Hoop Inside Of A Pocket On A Tote Bag
In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop inside of a pocket on a tote bag without using any hooping device. If you do not have a hooping device that will slide down inside of the pocket, this is the way to get it hooped. Sometimes you have to hoop a garment or item flat when you do not have any other way and learning how to hoop flat is critical to any embroidery business.
Video: Inserting A Hooped Pocket Into The Embroidery Machine
In this embroidery training video, I show you how to insert the hooped pocket on the tote bag into the embroidery machine. You must be very careful that you get it over the neck of the machine correctly. You would then proceed with sewing out the design. Make sure that you use your tearaway backing when you are inserting the pocket into the machine.
Video: Hooping A Tote Bag With A HoopTech Embroidery Clamp
In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop the inside pocket of a tote bag using the Hoop Tech Embroidery Clamp. I also show you how to solve a problem with a design that was not digitized for this heavy canvas bag. This same principal will work with many designs that have not been digitized heavy enough in density for the fabric that you need to sew it out on. This is especially true if you have a design that was digitized for a woven fabric and you need to use this same design to sew out on a knit fabric.
Video: How To Hoop A Tote Bag With The All In One Hooping Device
In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop a tote bag using the All In One hooping device. I do not use backing when I hoop a bag like this, but I will slide my backing under the hoop after I insert my hooped bag into the embroidery machine. I will show you how to do that in the next video about loading the hooped bag and sewing it out on the embroidery machine.
If you have the freestyle board or the cap back board of the Hoopmaster hooping device, you can also hoop bags in a very similar manner. I have used both and they work well. If you have made the cap back template that I gave you a pattern for in the cap section, you can use that also.
Video: Inserting A Hooped Tote Bag Into The Embroidery Machine To Sew
In this embroidery training video, I show you how to insert the hooped tote bag into the embroidery machine, place the backing under the hoop, and sew out the embroidery design. I used a Super Twist metallic thread for this design. In the video I tell you what size needle to use for this type of thread.
Video: How To Hoop And Embroider A Wine Bottle Bag
In this embroidery training video, I show you how to hoop and embroider a wine bottle bag using a cylindrical frame attachment. See the video on how to install the cylindrical frame attachment in the Machine Maintenance section of the website. If you have a wine bottle bag that has a side seam, you can hoop it flat by removing the stitching and embroidering the design sideways or at a 270 degree angle. It is much easier if you have the cylindrical frame. HoopTech also offers some smaller sized specialty clamps that will work for this process.
